In the field of advocacy and policy-making

  • Contacts with governments in 48 countries*about their policies related to the family made through their permanent missions at the UN (29) or through direct contact with government members (19). This collaboration has resulted in numerous mentions of the family perspective in legislation and other laws, policies and public aid programs for the family.
  • Production and presentation of the Declaration of Civil Society on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the International Year of the Family (2014), to which 22 international organisations, 242 national family organisations from 65 countries and 545 representatives from civil society of 83 countries have adhered to.
  • Coordination of the largest research project undertaken in Europe on the situation of the family and its future (2013-2017), with 25 academic partners**. The project, called ‘Families & Societies’ is financed by the European Commission.
  • Integration by invitation of the UN as observers of the Executive Committees of UNICEF and UN Women (2016).
  • Leadership of a project which analyzes global indicators of family well-being (2016-2018), promoted in collaboration with UNICEF and the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs. The project is called ‘SDGs and Families’, and it benefits from the participation of 12 internationally recognized academic experts from five continents in the field of family policies. The project is funded by Fundación La Caixa.
  • Monthly publication of a paper on family issues which since 2011 has been distributed to some 8,000 legislators, academics and representatives of civil society in 181 countries.
