The 2020 IFFD Briefing has been celebrated at the UN Headquarters in New York, during the Session of the Commission for Social Development, co-organized by the Permanent Missions of Ecuador, Malaysia, the State of Qatar and Kenya to the UN, UN-Habitat and UN-DESA, with the participation of the Doha International Family Institute.
Luiz Alvaro, Secretary of International Relations, presented the Declaration signed by major Bruno Covas on behalf of the Municipality, together with Marina Morais and Bruna Starling. IFFD was represented by Roberto Canonico and Ignacio Socias.
The Second International Conference on Family Policy was held at the US Senate on 4th December, organized by the Embassy of Hungary, the US Department of Health and Human Services, and the Embassy of Brazil, with the participation of IFFD.
The Signature of the Venice Declaration by the city of Vicenza (Italy) was carried out in Bruselas (November) and representated by the mayor Francesco Rucco. The Veneto Region was represented by the president of the Regional Council, Roberto Ciambetti, and IFFD by Ignacio Socías.
Together with other events, a Panel Discussion in Observance of the World Cities Day 2019 on ‘Inclusive Cities for All: Intergenerational Urban Arrangements’ was organized at the UN Headquarters in New York by IFFD with the UN DESA Division for Inclusive Social Development and the UN Human Settlements Programme (UN Habitat).
A conference on ‘Family and Social Innovation’ has been held in Curitiba (Brasil), as the conclusion of the annual meeting for the ‘Inclusive Cities for Sustainable Families’ project members, with more than 400 participants.
30th Anniversary of the Convention on the Rights in UNICEF
The celebrations of the 30th Anniversary of the Convention on the Rights in UNICEF New York started with an event on the civil society perspective, organized by the NGO Committee on UNICEF. It was an event dedicated to hearing the voice of civil society by protecting the child in the first instance.
The UNICEF Executive Board kicked off its 2019 Annual Session at United Nations Headquarters in New York on 11 June. The session was opened by H.E. Mr. Omar Hilale, Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Morocco, and with the participation of IFFD as member of the NGO Committee and the Advisory Group.
